The NerdOctaxe is a multi-chip open-source Bitcoin miner designed to provide substantially more hashrate than a standard NerdQaxe in one device. The 9.6T configuration is commonly built around eight BM1370 ASIC chips, while a NerdQaxe++ normally uses four.

This allows the NerdOctaxe to deliver approximately 9.6 TH/s without requiring two separate miners, two network configurations and two individual monitoring interfaces.

Hardware revisions and supporting components can vary between production batches. Buyers should confirm the delivered board version, cooling arrangement, power connector and included power supply rather than comparing units by hashrate alone.

The 9.6T NerdOctaxe is positioned as a balance between hashrate, power consumption and home deployment. UStarMiner rates this model at approximately 160W and 16.7 J/TH, while its 12T air-cooled model is rated at approximately 240W and 20 J/TH.

The 12T model offers more hashrate, but it also requires more electrical and cooling capacity. The 9.6T model may be the better choice for customers who want considerably more performance than a 4.8T or 6T miner while limiting heat, fan speed and power demand.

Actual efficiency depends on operating settings, temperatures, power-supply losses and individual ASIC variation.

One NerdOctaxe provides approximately the same target hashrate as two 4.8T units while requiring only one device, one power connection and one mining configuration. It can offer a cleaner installation and simpler day-to-day monitoring.

Two separate 4.8T miners provide more deployment flexibility. They can be placed in different locations, assigned to different pools or operated independently if one unit requires maintenance.

The better choice depends on available space, power connections and whether the buyer values a simpler single-device installation or the redundancy of two independent miners.

The AxeOS interface generally reports board-level power calculated from the miner’s internal sensors. A wall meter measures the complete system, including power-supply conversion losses, fans, the display and other supporting components.

For that reason, a miner rated at approximately 160W may show a different value at the wall. The difference is not automatically a fault, but unusually high wall power, a hot PSU, unstable input voltage or repeated power errors should be investigated.

Use a compatible power supply with adequate continuous capacity and avoid operating it at its absolute maximum rating. If the miner restarts or reports a PSU fault, return to the approved settings and inspect the PSU, cable and connector before further operation.

The main ASIC heatsinks are only one part of the cooling system. Because the NerdOctaxe combines multiple ASIC chips on one board, the voltage regulators, power-delivery components and rear of the PCB also require airflow.

Keep both the front and rear airflow paths clear, prevent hot exhaust from returning to the intake and regularly remove dust from the fans and heatsinks. Monitor ASIC temperatures, VRM temperatures, hardware errors and fan speed rather than relying on a single temperature reading.

If the ASIC temperatures appear normal but the miner develops power errors or instability, the voltage-regulator area and power system should also be checked. Adding heatsinks, replacing fans or converting the unit to liquid cooling may affect airflow, electrical load and warranty coverage, so modifications should be confirmed with UStarMiner before installation.
