GETTING STARTED

New User Guide

Setup, Wi-Fi, mining pools, wallets, model selection and Solo mining basics.

How do I set up a Star Miner for the first time?

Check the miner, power adapter, documentation and SN or activation card. Connect the original power adapter, install the Star Miner app, enable Bluetooth, bind the device, connect it to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network, and then configure the mining pool and BTC wallet address.

Does Star Miner only support 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi?

Use a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network when connecting the device. A 5 GHz-only network is not recommended. Avoid unusual symbols in the Wi-Fi name, and confirm the password before binding.

How do I bind a device to the Star Miner app?

Power on the miner, enable Bluetooth and the required app permissions, then open the Star Miner app and choose Discover or Add Device. Scan the QR code on the activation card or enter the activation information manually, then follow the prompts to complete Wi-Fi setup.

How do I configure a mining pool and BTC wallet address?

Open the device configuration page in the app. Enter the verified pool host and port, the required username or worker format, and your BTC wallet address, then save the settings. Always check the pool's current official documentation.

How do I set up Public Pool?

Enter Public Pool's current official connection address and port in the pool settings. The BTC address is commonly used as the username for Solo mining. Confirm the latest host, port and username format on Public Pool's official website before saving.

Why is a BTC address used as the pool username?

In many Solo mining configurations, the BTC address identifies the miner and is also the address associated with a potential block reward. The exact field format depends on the selected pool.

What is a Bitcoin ASIC miner?

A Bitcoin ASIC miner is specialized hardware designed for SHA-256 hashing. Compare hashrate, complete-system power, cooling, noise, firmware, pool compatibility, warranty and included accessories before choosing a model.

Can a Bitcoin ASIC mine any cryptocurrency?

No. An ASIC supports only compatible algorithms and workflows. Star Miner devices are designed for BTC and compatible SHA-256 mining configurations; they cannot mine arbitrary cryptocurrencies.

Is a higher hashrate always the best choice?

Higher hashrate means more hashing attempts, but it can also require more power, cooling, space and budget. Choose a model based on the complete operating environment rather than hashrate alone.

How do I choose the right Star Miner model?

Choose a lower-power Gamma model for entry-level learning or compact desktop use. Choose a higher-hashrate air-cooled model for simpler maintenance, or a hydro model when lower fan noise and liquid-cooling management better suit the environment.

What is a desktop Bitcoin miner?

It is a compact SHA-256 miner whose verified footprint, power, heat and sound profile can fit a desk or small workspace. Always check the exact model specifications and ventilation requirements.

Can I run a Star Miner in an office?

Yes, if the room has suitable power, ventilation, network access and an acceptable noise level. Confirm workplace rules and the selected model's measured operating profile.

Is Star Miner suitable for beginners?

Yes. Star Miner is designed to simplify personal BTC Solo mining through guided setup, an official app and support resources. Beginners should use the documented factory configuration before changing advanced settings.

What is BTC Solo mining?

Solo mining means a miner independently attempts to find a Bitcoin block. It provides a direct way to participate in the network, but block discovery is probabilistic and is never guaranteed.

Does Star Miner guarantee BTC rewards or profit?

No. Solo mining results depend on network difficulty, device hashrate, uptime and network conditions. Electricity, hardware cost and Bitcoin price also affect economics. Star Miner does not promise a block, payout or return on investment.

APP & FIRMWARE

App & Firmware

Remote management, subscriptions, Block Query, official updates and device-specific technical guidance.

What are the benefits of using the Star Miner app?

The app can display online status, hashrate, temperature and power information. Depending on the plan and app version, it can also support remote control, schedules, alerts, multi-device management, Block Query, firmware updates and SN warranty checks.

Does the Star Miner app require a subscription?

Core setup and basic monitoring functions are available through the Free Plan. Selected remote-management, scheduling and Block Query features may require a paid Pro Plan. Check the latest plan details in the app before subscribing.

How do I renew or cancel an app subscription?

Renew through the membership area in the Star Miner app or through your Apple App Store or Google Play subscription settings. To cancel, open the relevant store's subscription page and cancel Star Miner at least 24 hours before the renewal date.

Can I manage a miner when my phone is on another network?

Supported remote-management functions can work without the phone being connected to the miner's local Wi-Fi. The device must remain online, and feature availability can depend on the app plan and version.

Can one account manage multiple Star Miner devices?

Yes. The app supports multi-device management so users can view and manage several bound miners from one account.

How do I use Block Query?

Open the Block Query page in the Star Miner app and select the relevant device. If the device successfully reports a block, the app can display Block Found together with the time and block height.

Why does Block Query show no result?

Confirm that the miner is online and mining, and that the pool and BTC wallet address are correct. If no block has been found, the page will not display Block Found.

How do I check the current firmware version?

Open the device details or firmware area in the Star Miner app and compare the installed version with the latest official release. Use only update files and tools provided through official Star Miner channels.

Can I flash native Bitaxe or third-party firmware?

Do not flash native Bitaxe, third-party or other-model firmware. Star Miner hardware and services are deeply customized, and incompatible firmware can disable functions, cause device failure and affect warranty eligibility.

How do I recover after installing incompatible firmware?

Download the correct official firmware and flashing tool from the Star Miner firmware page, follow the official flashing guide and use the specified address and COM port. If you are unsure, contact support before proceeding.

Can Star Miner devices be overclocked?

Use the official factory profile and documented settings. Unapproved frequency, voltage, cooling or power changes can increase heat, errors and hardware stress and may affect warranty coverage.

What is the BM1370 ASIC chip?

BM1370 is an ASIC platform used in supported Bitaxe Gamma hardware. Complete miner performance also depends on board revision, official firmware, power delivery, cooling and operating settings.

Does the NerdQaxe++ Rev 6.1 require extra overclocking to reach 6T?

No additional overclocking is required for the advertised factory configuration. Evaluate performance using pool-side averages, accepted shares, temperatures and stability over several hours rather than a brief display reading.

Is the supplied power supply suitable for continuous operation?

Use the supplied or officially approved power supply for the documented operating profile. During initial operation, check that the adapter, cable and connector do not become unusually hot and do not replace them with an incorrect-voltage unit.

Should I choose air cooling or hydro cooling?

Air cooling is simpler to install and inspect but fan noise can be more noticeable. Hydro cooling can reduce fan noise around the ASIC but requires space and maintenance for the pump, radiator and cooling loop.

TROUBLESHOOTING

Troubleshooting

If Star Miner behaves unexpectedly during binding, networking, mining-pool connection, operation, firmware updates or app use, start with these checks before contacting support.

What should I do if app binding fails?

Confirm that Bluetooth is enabled, the miner is powered on and the device is available for binding. Move the phone closer to the miner, confirm app permissions and try again.

Why can’t the app scan the Bluetooth device?

Check Bluetooth permission and Star Miner app permission on the phone. Restart the miner and the app, then scan again near the device.

Why can’t the device connect to Wi-Fi?

Use a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network and confirm the network name and password. Avoid a 5 GHz-only network or a name containing unusual special characters.

Why does the device appear offline?

Confirm that the miner is powered, Wi-Fi is working and the router has internet access. Restart the miner and router if necessary, then allow time for the device to reconnect.

Why does the mining-pool connection fail?

Verify the pool host, port, username or worker format and BTC wallet address. Confirm that the current network can reach the pool and that the pool service is online.

Why is the displayed hashrate low or unstable?

Hashrate can take time to stabilize after startup. Monitor the pool-side average and accepted shares over several hours, and check network quality and device temperature.

What should I do if the temperature is too high?

Place the miner in a well-ventilated area, keep intake and exhaust paths clear, prevent hot-air recirculation and confirm that the fan or cooling loop is operating normally.

Why are power or temperature readings abnormal?

Refresh the app and confirm that the device is online. Restart the app if needed. If the reading remains abnormal, stop unsupported tuning and contact official support.

What should I do if a firmware update fails?

Keep the device powered and the network stable, then retry the official update. Do not interrupt power during flashing. Contact support if repeated attempts fail.

Why does Block Query show no block result?

Confirm that the device is mining and that the pool and BTC wallet are configured correctly. The page will not show Block Found unless a block has actually been reported.

Where can I find the SN or activation code?

Check the device label, packaging, activation card and app device-information page. If the device is already bound, the activation information may be visible in its details. Otherwise contact support with the SN.

When should I contact official support?

Contact support if the device cannot bind or connect, remains offline, shows a suspected hardware fault, repeatedly fails an official firmware update, or has an SN or warranty-query problem.
